After 22 years as an interior designer and Senior Builder Specialist in Houston, Tamra Rivera retired on April 30, 2023. Though she loved her career, retirement wasn’t something she actively pursued—until life took an unexpected turn.
In 2022, she and her husband, Jeff, rekindled their relationship, and with his encouragement, she took the leap into retirement. The transition came with both excitement and challenges, but today, she’s embracing this new chapter with passion and purpose.
🏡 Living Between Two Beautiful Places – Tamra and Jeff split their time between El Lago, Texas, and Angel Fire, New Mexico—enjoying summers in the mountains to escape the Texas heat. While their Angel Fire community is filled with fellow retirees, they’re the only retired couple among their friends in Texas.

They’re also building a lakefront condo, set to be completed in 2026, creating yet another dream home for their next adventures.
🎨 Staying Creative with Interior Design – Though officially retired, Tamra still loves design! She continues working on projects for family and friends and is considering small-scale contract work, especially in Angel Fire.
⛳ Exploring New Hobbies – With Jeff busy in two golf leagues, Tamra is looking to take up golf again this summer. She even tried skiing for the first time at 61—but quickly decided it wasn’t for her! ❄️⛷️
💰 Lessons in Retirement Planning – Looking back, Tamra wishes she had maxed out her 401K contributions earlier. Her advice? Start planning early and take full advantage of retirement savings opportunities.
💖 Faith, Family & Giving Back – Tamra’s life is deeply rooted in faith, family, and friendship. Her two adult sons are her best friends, and she cherishes time spent with loved ones. She believes in spreading kindness and positivity, hoping to leave the world a better place through her actions.
